what is "mostacciolo?"

Shrimp Tacos today turned out pretty good.  It was definitely a basic recipe, but still delicious.  Next time though, I definitely need to chop up the shrimp into smaller pieces - not sure why it didn't cross my (or Betty's) mind.  I might also think about adding lime juice and/or cilantro!  The day today was fairly uneventful, and I once again failed at exercise in the morning - but I have a 7:30am run scheduled with M which I'm excited about!

Tonight a bunch of us went out to dinner for two friends' birthday.  We went to Carino's, an Italian place - and I think everyone enjoyed their meals!  I had Lobster Ravioli (picture courtesy of Carino's), which was good - although the lobster flavor wasn't all that strong.  I successfully saved half of it for later, and then had a few bites of the ice cream that the birthday girls got.  Then when I got home I realized I needed to make lunch for tomorrow, so I quickly whipped together Mostacciolo with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto.  I had never heard of Mostacciolo before, but a quick google search told me it was basically the same thing as Penne pasta.  In fact, at the store, when I looked at the box of Mostacciolo and the box of Penne, I couldn't tell them apart.  So I of course went with the store-brand Penne, since it was cheaper.
I have a feeling that after a morning run, even with fruit as a mid-morning snack, this will not fill me up - I'm going to need some protein!  I'm going to pack some pecans as a snack, so we'll see if that helps.  Anyway, time for bed since I have to run at 7:30.  The forecast is 74 degrees with 90% humidity... yikes.  Wish me luck!

  2. Agreed on the tomato pesto, sounds good. So long the tomato is not chunky. Sigh, worst.
